TINNITUS CURE
If you are prepared to accept my definition of a cure, which in this case,
is to still have tinnitus but seldom if ever be aware of it, then you have
found the cure that you have been looking for. Everything you need is here.
Not just part of it but all of it. I am not trying to sell you anything so
there is no catch.
I am quite sure that at this moment, if your tinnitus is whistling, humming,
hissing, roaring or whatever in your ear or ears, you find it difficult to
believe that you could ever be unaware of it. Let me get straight to the point
and prove to you once and for all that not only is it possible, but you are
already living with things which would be every bit as distressing if you were
aware of them. Although I am about to make you aware of them, please do not
worry. I will not let any anything harm you.
Several thousand times every day you blink. Yes blink. I know that this does
not bother you. Your eyes repeatedly close and open during which time for a
fraction of a second they block out the light. You are never aware of this
but, for a couple of minutes make yourself aware of it. Concentrate on
blinking for a while. I hope that you do as I ask because you will soon
realise that if you were constantly conscious of blinking it would be
incredibly annoying – even distressing. As soon as possible, without making
them aware of it, watch other people as they blink. It is almost unbelievable
that they can continuously do that without even knowing. Really watch those
eyes close and open and block out the light and watch that person carry on
regardless as if nothing had happened.
If we were all conscious of blinking it would not be long before new
associations were set up e.g. The NBA [The National Blinking Association] and
we would all be running around looking for a cure while worldwide research
centres spent millions looking for a solution.
Breathing is yet another example. Essential as it obviously is, if you
concentrate on your breathing and really become aware of it you will very soon
discover that it becomes extremely tiring. Fortunately, like blinking, it
happens thousands of times a day [and of course night] without us ever being
really conscious of it.
In the pre digital days of not so very long ago, clocks used to tick. Tick
tock, tick tock. On and on they went 24 hours a day. Many of them were very
loud and yet people used to sit in rooms with them tick tocking away without
them ever noticing it. Bring them back today and it would not be long before
you had to be very careful walking past houses with their occupants throwing
clocks out of their windows and banging you on the head.
This at least proves that our brain/subconscious mind has the ability to
block out things that could cause us considerable stress. There can be no
argument about this as it is doing so right now. What we now want is for them
to do the same with that noise in our ears – shove it in the file with our
blinking and breathing. The next question is how can we get them to do this?
The answer is incredibly simple. The act of doing it is a little more
difficult. That is why I am here to help.
The act of blinking and breathing are things that we have been doing since
the day we were born. I guess that as newborn babies we had plenty of other
things to worry about than blinking. A slap on the backside as often as not
welcomed us into the world, which we repaid with loud screams and possibly
caused more than a few nurses to develop tinnitus. The fact is that because we
have never known any anything else, we treat blinking and breathing as
perfectly natural. We just take for granted the fact that our
brain/subconscious mind has blanked out things that are not important for us
to be consciously aware of.
To us tinnitus is new. It is not something that has always been there.
There
have however been many exceptions. A 12-year-old girl arrived home one day and
was surprised to find her father, who normally worked late, sitting in the
kitchen crying. She was very concerned that something terrible may have
happened to her mother. When she asked what was wrong he explained that he had
been to the doctor only to be told that there was no cure. She asked what sort
of noise. He made a very loud hissing sound. She looked very confused. She
had the same type of noise. It had always been there and she assumed that it
was perfectly natural and that everybody had it. To her, the noise was no more
annoying than blinking or breathing and there was no reason to ever mention
it.
In our case the noise is at the forefront of our conscious mind and while
remains there we will constantly be aware of it. We can however change that.
The first and perhaps the most important thing is to understand that tinnitus
is not life threatening. It is not dangerous and it cannot do us any harm –
unless we allow it to. To put it into context, it is only a noise. It really
is not very important. The more you let it bother you and the harder you try
to fight it the worse you will feel. It does not mean you any harm. Just for
the time being just accept it. Try to get to like it. Get on with your life as
if you did not have tinnitus. Stop talking about it. Let those close to you
assume that you are cured. It will make a huge different to their lives. It is
terrible to be around a loved one knowing that they are suffering and that
there is nothing you can do to help them. By walking tall and making them
happy you will have taken a major step forward. Enjoy their company and make
it possible for them to enjoy yours. Spurn any hint of sympathy. Show that
you are happy. Laugh and enjoy doing all the things that give you pleasure.
Allow the noise to come with you. When you go to bed willingly take it with
you. Relax, say goodnight to it if you like. You will soon learn that it is
not necessary to take any pills to fall asleep.
Once you accept the noise and stop worrying about it and trying to fight it
your subconscious mind will begin to take care of it. Initially it will be for
short periods of time. As your confidence grows those wonderful quiet periods
will last longer. In the not to distant future your tinnitus will live happily
in its new home with your blinking and breathing.
Maybe you are wondering what my credentials are. Am I perhaps a doctor or
consultant? Well, I am delighted to be able to tell you, that in this
instance, I am of far more use to you than both. I am an ex tinnitus sufferer.
I have had the most severe tinnitus for more than twenty years. I still
remember those dark days when no one could help me. I know how you may have
been suffering because I have been there. If I were to tell you my own storey
it would not be a happy one. I am here to help you, not to depress you.
Suffice it to say that since I practiced the things I have told you some
twenty years ago I have lived free of the noise. I have only ever been aware
of it during the many times that I have been helping other people or times
such as now. While I am writing about it, tinnitus has to be on my conscious
mind and, right now, I can hear my noise in all its glory. Were it not for the
fact that I know without any shadow of doubt that within minutes of finishing
this my noise will return to its happy home in my subconscious, no power on
earth could have made me do this.
I do hope that I have been able to help you and I wish you God speed.
